Annual programming
Springtime CSA: Each April and May, Brewerytown Garden offers a CSA [Community Supported Agriculture] box subscription in collaboration with The Common Market, a nonprofit regional food distributor with a mission to connect communities with good food from sustainable family farms. Each weekly box contains 6-8 seasonal vegetables and fruits & we offer egg and dairy add-on options. This is a great way to get your veggies in before our farmstand opens!
Saturday farmstand: For the past seven years, Brewerytown Garden has set aside 15 individual garden plots and collectively grown produce to sell June through September. We offer the neighborhood a place to buy locally-grown, organic produce at very affordable prices (with an additional 50% discount for customers holding EBT/SNAP cards. In partnership with The Common Market, we supplement what we grow with produce grown at regional farms, as well as eggs, cheese, and local baked goods.
Educational workshops: The garden holds three demonstrations and workshops during the growing season for garden members and neighbors. Past years' programs included: starting seeds, natural pest control, native plants, canning and preserving, herbal remedies, terrarium building, and composting procedures.
Work days: Brewerytown Garden organizes monthly cleanup days from March through October, where gardeners, neighbors, and other community organizations volunteer to clean, weed, mow, and beautify our space. We often combine these work days with pot-luck style cookouts for garden members and neighbors to relax, gather, and enjoy a meal together after a productive day of gardening and cleaning.
Annual events: Each year, Brewerytown Garden participates in Community Gardens Day, a citywide open house and celebration of our green spaces organized by Neighborhood Gardens Trust. We welcome our neighbors from around the city by offering music, food, crafts and fun. Other programs we organize annually: a free concert series, family movie night, and a craft or paint party. Check our events page for this year's offerings!
